In reference to my letter of yesterday's date in reply

to your No.5828, I should have added that the Company's

Subscribers in Hongkong are approaching four hundred in

number, and are steadily increasing. Mr. Secretary

Chamberlain will therefore see that the metallic circuiting

of the Company's lines by Cables will prove an expensive

and laborious undertaking.
